Getting Started with Our Industrial Lining & Coating Services
We help industries protect their equipment from corrosion, chemicals, abrasion, and wear through high-performance rubber, FRP, fluoropolymer, and protective coating systems. Here are answers to the most common questions.
Rubber lining is a process or method of applying corrosion protective rubber layers on outer surface or inner surface of tanks and pipes. Different type of rubber materials are used for different applications. Rubber lining is done by hand with the help of some equipment. It can be applied to different metal surfaces such as mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron and aluminum. The thickness of rubber lining may vary from 2mm to 50mm depending upon application.
It depends on the chemical solution, temperature of service and the abrasive nature of the particles flowing through the system. Unicon will work with you to decide which abrasion and corrosion control system is appropriate for your individual processes.
A multitude of factors determine which lining solution is best for your application. Temperature, PH levels, flow velocity and particle size can all determine what type and thickness of material is recommended for your equipment.
A fluoropolymer is a polymer that is made up of monomers that contain fluorine atoms. There are many types but the principal fluoropolymers used in the coatings that we apply are PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) and PFA (perfluoralkoxy).
PTFE coatings can withstand maximum operating temperatures of 260⁰C and intermittent exposure (up to 30 minutes) of 285⁰C. PFA (perfluoralkoxy) has similar operating temperatures but FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) has a maximum operating temperature of 205⁰C. Minimum operating temperatures of PTFE, PFA and FEP coatings are well into the cryogenic range at around -195⁰C.
